DC Fun: Truckeroo II

Posted by thekellytang On 8:45 AM

Truckeroo was amazing and the weather wasn't too hot! There were so many people who came out. Truckeroo is a monthly event where all the food trucks park in one spot to showcase food trucks! Um, this was heaven, because I hardly ever get the chance to venture into DC when the food trucks are out. And I seriously had a feast, I went with my sister & brother-in-law, it was a blast! More photos after the cut!

1-2 : Red hook lobster truck was the best, and hands down my favorite! We tried both the Maine and the Connecticut style, $15 each well spent!
3: Just a picture of the whole scene, lots of people and sun! <3
4: The Baltimore Bomb from Dangerously Delicious Pies, can you say delicious! Another one of my favorites from the day! $6.50/ slice.
5: TaKorean Bulgogi Tacos, so delicious and spicy with kimchi salad on top! To me it was a bit spicy, but  I took some of the kimchi off, and ate the bulgogi taco straight up, and it was delicious, and then ate it with kimchi again. 3 for $9.
6-7: By the time we left the line was insane, it went around the block on both sides!

NOTE: We also ate wonky fries from Eat Wonky, which are poutine, with cheese and gravy, it was pretty good ($5.50). Also, tried the goat cheese mac from CapMac + chicken, $10, Lemme just say, amazingly delicious and I must try the other mac n cheese! And an empanada from DC Empandas which my brother loved ($3.50)! And three lemonades at $3/each, and two beers at $6/each.

Total cost for food =  $91 including tips! So be prepared, because we honestly didn't expect to spend that much money but we did because you get overwhelmed with wanting to try everything! haha!

Some Tips:
<3 Bring cash, some trucks don't take credit cards, though many of them do!
<3 Go early, to avoid lines we got there around 5ish and there were barely any lines. After about 6pm there were long lines for Takorean and Red hook! And there were lines just getting into Truckeroo.
<3 Its metro-accessible its the navy yard metro stop, be sure to take the half and M street exit!
<3 Be ready to wait in line and it will be worth it in the end! <3
<3 Bring your own water, they sell water by the cup for $3. (That's why we ended up buying three lemonades because they are the same price!)
<3 Once you figure out the trucks you love, stalk them like none other on twitter! via @foodtruckfiesta , or the twitters of the food trucks themselves! I follow most all of them, lol!

Doesn't this make you crave food trucks? I hope you guys get to go next month, it ends in October! Be sure to get email subscriptions from the site, that's how I found out when it was!

i love food trucks! when i visited corpus christi, texas, i had probably the most authentic (and delicious) tasting tacos from a taco truck, owned by a local family. it was very popular and scores of people were lined up for their tacos!
